This unknown Huey has been a ground trainer at the Hemet-Ryan airtanker base since about 2002-2003. It is widely quoted as UH-1F N490DF (c/n 7108), or as UH-1H N490DF (c/n 12375), but it is neither. It has a long cabin (i.e. a UH-1D or UH-1H), so the short-cabin UH-1F c/n 7108 can be ruled out. And UH-1H N490DF was still operational with Cal Fire by 2018, as Tanker 205.
The only known facts are that in 2003 this ground trainer still carried "Vina Helitack" titles, and tanker number 205. The long cabin means it must be a UH-1D or most likely a UH-1H. And it operated as "Copter 205" for the Vina Helitack before 2003. Suggestions most welcome!

This is only the starboard section of the fuselage of UH-1H A2-382. This Huey was ditched in Vietnam in 1968 after it had been hit by small arms fire. The fuselage was later recovered to Australia. The port section of the fuselage is preserved in the RAAF museum at Point Cook. In 2019, the starboard section was moved from Townsville to the 2RAR museum at Lavarack Barracks, Queensland. UH-1B A2-1020's tailboom is preserved in the heritage museum at RAAF Townsville. The remainder of this Huey, that was involved in one of the most well known RAAF operations in Vietnam (see http://www.adf-serials.com/3a2.htm) is preserved in the RAF museum at Point Cook (be it with a different airframe's tailboom...).

On display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Huey '492' is painted to represent a 20th Special Operations Squadron "Green Hornets" helicopter that rescued a seven-man team of Green Berets on Nov. 26, 1968 in Vietnam. The pilot, 1st Lt. J. Fleming was awarded the Medal of Honor for the mission.

Ex US Army 65-9947.

Originally a UH-1D with the US Army as 65-10029, this helicopter was upgraded to UH-1H standards before retirement. Registered N132AR in 2008 and operated in the restricted category, it was sold to Marble Mountain Helicopters to become N285MM in 2015.

Transport Helicopter Regiment (THR) 30 is still operating the mighty Huey. Quite unique to see the Huey still flying in August 2020 as the Airbus H145/EC145T2 officially replaced the veteran in the search and rescue role in the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) from 6 July 2020.
