Only one Saab 18 is known to have survived, which is preserved with the Swedish Air Force Museum in Malmen. With the Flygmuseet F21 this replica cockpit of a B18A can be admired. The type was very suitable for reconnaissance and served the Swedish Air Force during the last year of WW 2 and well after, until the type's retirement in 1959.

Lancaster NF920 "Easy Elsie" was one of 37 Lancasters that took off from Lossiemouth to bomb German battleship "Tirpitz" in Northern Norway on 29 October 1944. During the unsuccesful strike, "Easy Elsie" was hit by German anti-aircraft fire and its crew directed it to Sweden, where it made a succesful landing in a soggy bog near the small town of Porjus. The Lancaster was damaged and set on fire by the crew, all of which survived the ordeal. The fire quickly went out and so the almost complete wreckage can still be found in exactly the same spot where it landed 80 years ago.

A unique design, the Saab 21 is a very rare find these days, with only three complete examples left. Designed with a push-propeller, it was equipped with a jet engine in 1947, becoming the first Swedish fighter jet. Serial 21311 was delivered with a push-propeller to the Swedish Air Force in 1948.

A rather strange inhabitant of the general aviation airfield at Skå-Edeby, West of Stockholm, is this forlorn Antonov An-2. It came to Sweden from Lithuania in 1994, its CoFA already expired in 2001. Abandoned at Skå-Edeby ever since, it sat there for many years until someone reported the aircraft as 'found' to the police, since no-one claimed it, the aircraft became the property of the person who found it. However, nothing changed, it still sits where it was left abandoned. It was painted to resemble an RAF Westland Lysander...

The Swedish Air Force has a name to uphold when it comes to special paintschemes. Saab 37 Viggens appeared in a variety of colours over the years. AJ37 37009 is one of the oldest Viggens still around, it was first delivered in 1972, and was adorned with this eye-catching blue paintscheme. It attracts visitors to the excellent F15 Flygmuseum on the former air base of Söderhamn.

North American P-51D Mustangs in Swedish Air Force colours are very rare, as only two are known to be left in Sweden, where the type was called J26. Most of these aircraft were sold to Latin America after retirement in 1954. This is the only S26 reconnaissance version left, ex USAAF P-51D 44-72112, it served with F21 during its nine year career with the Swedish Air Force.
