The Bourges was designed to be powered by the ABC Dragonfly but problems with the engines meant F2903, the prototype, made its first flight with Bentley rotaries as the Mk. IIA. The ABC engines were fitted later as seen in this photo. F2903 entered the civil register on July 1919, as G-EACE. It was scrapped in May 1920. The location of this photo is not given but may be Mousehold, where Boulton Paul had its works, or Hendon where the F2903 made its public debut. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

The Wizard was developed from a racing aircraft powered by Rolls Royce Falcon. After an accident, the Racer was rebuilt a fighter called the Wizard. The engine was a Rolls Royce F.XI soon to be called the Kestrel. Air Ministry interest led to a request to modify the aircraft to improve visibility for the pilot. The engine was also upgraded to a supercharged F.IX. When the modified aircraft, the Wizard II, had poorer performance than the Mk.I , it was decided to drop it because there was not enough gain over biplanes. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

The first Botha seen here devoid of markings save for its serial. It would subsequently receive the standard dark green/dark earth camouflage and roundels. After its operational life it became a ground instruction aircraft with maintenance serial 2217M. The Botha saw little operational service and was quickly allocated to training roles. It suffered a high accident rate and was unpopular with air crew. Despite this, 580 were built. Most were scrapped in 1943. Photo from: Imperial War Museums
