P2-ANY was sold in the US as N55892 in 1979. Before reaching Papua New Guinea, -ANY had served with the USAAF in the Philippines and spent a little time on the UK register as G-AJTO. It was sold in Australia as VH-INF and given Wright Cyclone engines. When it went to Butler Air Transport as VH-AKR the Pratt and Whitney engines were refitted. Next stop was Papua New Guinea with Ansett-MAL as VH-MAN and then to the PNG register as P2-MAN. It finally became P2-ANY in December 1975.

The third DC-3 to be imported into Australia, this historic aircraft was purchased by Australian National Airways for 32,000 pounds and first registered on 31 October 1938. After a wartime spell as A30-3, it was badly damaged in a forced landing following an engine fire on 4 Oct 1948. Taken over in 1957 by Ansett-ANA. To Airlines of South Australia in 1961 & 'retired' on 13 March 1971 with 67,224 hours. And that's only her first 33 years!
