The Dart was a two-seat aircraft available in a variety of engines. The GK used a Ken-Royce (LeBlond) 5G radial after the original Lambert R-266 became difficult to obtain. One of twenty five Dart GKs built, N20941 was active until at least 1994 but cancelled from the US register in September 2013.

With a good supply of airframes post WW2, the Torrance CA. based Transland Aircraft had a steady business converting surplus aircraft into crop dusters. They subsequently developed their own design, the Ag-1 and by 1954 the Ag-2, the prototype of which made its first flight in October 1956. Too expensive to compete with the war surplus conversions, only three were built, N8232H which first flew in 1959 being the last. The prototype survives in New Zealand having spent many years in Uruguay but N8232H crashed in Panama in August 1963.

The Griffon was a response to a 1953 requirement for a light supersonic interceptor. The prototype, powered by a SNECMA Atar 101F turbojet first flew in September 1955 and this, the second aircraft which used the combination of an Atar 101E-3 turbojet and Nord ramjet, flew in January 1957. The aircraft was extensively tested by the CEV with much of the test flying being undertaken by André Turcat, later of Concorde fame. Despite reaching a speed of Mach 2.19 in October 1959, the programme was scrapped in 1960 and the Mirage went on to fulfil the interceptor contract. Photo by John Fricker
