It served in Vietnam suffering combat damage and in the first mission flown using night vision goggles in 1979. One of a few fitted with Skyhook recovery gear. In 1993, the 9th SOS received the aircraft at Eglin AFB, but 65-0994 returned to Asia in 1995 when assigned to the 17th SOS at Kadena, Japan. Redesgnated as an MC-130P 'Combat Shasdow' after mods in 1996, it was back with the 9th SOS in 2009 and participated in the closing stages of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2010 to 2012, it deployed to Afghanistan multiple times as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Towed into the Memorial Park in August 2015

A stretched L100 without titles arriving after sunset at Kandahar. The L100-30 was manufactured as N4278M and rolled out in November 1987. It was delivered to China Air Cargo in December 1987 and became B-3004 in January 1988. It was transferred to China East Airlines in September 1991 and to Air China in March 1993. According to the civil FAA-register, it became N3796B with Northcap out of Wilmington (DE) but flying with Tepper Aviation out of Florida on 6 March 2007. The company had a long association with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
