A Dutch F-16AM in a warzone, topped of with live GBUs, Sidewinders and a targeting pod. The Koninklijke Luchtmacht deployed four F-16s in support of ISAF. This deployment was shared with initially the Belgiums, and later with the Norwegian. The Dutch and the Norwegians formed the "first Netherlands / Norwegian Expedition Air Wing (EEAW) F-16 International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Detachment 4", or in short 1 NLD/NOR EEAW F-16 Det ISAF-4. The Norwegians relieved the Belgiums with 1 NLD/BEL EEAW F-16 Det ISAF-3.

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines and other booby traps. I was able to drive around this pile of metal, but it was impossible to leave the sandy path. This photo shows an Antonov nose section, MiG-21s, a Mi-24/-35 part, but I couldn't reach these wreckages for a further inspection of types and construction numbers. What a mess...

The 32 was seen at Kabul in Mar'02 without roundels and started to operate with the Afghan National Army - Air Corps (ANAAC) Fixed Wing. The ANA_AC was renamed the Afghan Air Force June'10. The aircraft was repainted in grey and eventually grounded in Nov'09. It was cannibalised for spares, last noted in Apr'10, fate unknown...

This '93 built Il-76 was delivered to Aeroflot as CCCP-76844, was transferred to Tashkent Aircraft Production Association (TAPO) as UK-76844 in Nov'95. It further flew with Krylo (as UK-76844) and Inversija (as YL-LAR). Silk started to operated the Il-76 from Dec'04 as 4K-AZ26 and was seen as such at Kabul. It returned to TAPO but was stored at Tashkent-Vostochny following the closure of the factory. Reported as 76844 without titels and then... possibly as 27695 with the Chinese Air Force from Apr'19: making it look like '27695' in bluish grey c/s with light grey undersides, military roundels.

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines and other booby traps. I was able to drive around this pile of debris, but it was impossible to leave the sandy path. This photo shows an An-32 nose section, and most probably wings of an An-2, but I couldn't reach these wrecks for a further inspection. This is almost certainly the nose section of Antonov 32 serial 338.

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines, so I couldn't reach this wreckage for an inspection of the type and construction number. It is possible that the debris surrounding 338 did not belong to 338 itself.

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines, so I couldn't reach these wreckages for further inspection. But a MiG-21 tail and a Mi-24/-35 nose section can be seen in this picture. The tail section of 206 in the background is that of an Ilyushin Il-14. On the right-hand side, on top of the hill, an Il-28 fuselage can be seen. What a mess...

Some hour drive from Kabul, a real massive scrapyard of the Afghan Army was found. Only a few sandy paths were cleared from land mines, so only a few wrecks could be approached. Among them these two Mi-35s (113 and 64) that once served the Afghan air force. It is unknown what happened to these Hinds, maybe they crashed, maybe they were destroyed somewhere on the ground during the war.
