This 'Fitter' is being prepared for take off. It is equipped with a KKR-1 reconnaissance pod.

A fine study of a Su-22M4 equipped with the 1970s KKR-1 reconnaissance pod. It is used for optical forward and vertical photography as well as electronic intelligence from small and medium heights, day and night. The improved variant was introduced in the early 1980s. The length of the pod is 6.79 m, width 0.59 m, height 0.58 m and weights up to 800 kg. Check the airbrakes on the rear too! Serial 3201 had manufacturer date 1 Feb'86 and was delivered to the Polish Air Force later that year to 7.plb-r. Here it is seen with its last user, 21.BLT. The aircraft was withdrawn from use on 11 Sep'25.

On 11 September 2025, the Siły Powietrzne RP (Polish Air Force) said farewell to its Su-22 (NATO reporting name: FITTER ) jet bombers. On 10 September, a small number of media and aviation enthousiasts were allowed on base to get their last operational view on the aircraft. This 3304 was parked in between some of its armament on a two-FITTER static. 3304 carries manufacturer date 1 February 1986 and was delivered to the Polish Air Force in that same year. The aircraft was last assigned to 21.BLT (Tactical Fighter Wing) which commanded the 1.Elt and 2.Elt (Eskader).

Impressive line-up of three former East German Air Force fighters in original colours and markings at the small airfield of Dermsdorf. This pack consists of Su-22M-4 682 (later German serial 2517), MiG-21U-400 251 (later German serial 2388) and MiG-21U-600 289 (later German 2395). The serials they received upon unification are not worn.

The Technik Museum in Speyer has an interesting collection of aircraft of which some are displayed in phantasy colours. One of these is this former East German Su-22M-4, which received serial 2514 upon unification and is here displayed with code 9 and an interesting combination of colours.

A former East German Air Force Su-22M-4 can be found with the Technikmuseum Hugo Junkers at Dessau. Its serial has been overpainted, its former East German serial is 600. It was first reported here in August 1994.

This Fitter-K was originally delivered to Czechoslovak AF 20. sbolp in 1987 and retired from the Czech AF towards the end of 2001. It is now one of the outside exhibits at this very interesting museum.
