First retired to AMARG in Oct. 77, she waited five years in the desert before being 'regenerated' (hence the R in AMARG) to serve with VS-21 at NAF Atsugi, Japan. Her last deployment was aboard the USS Kitty Hawk before being retired (finally?) to DM during June 08 where she is now stored with the PCN/Inventory No. AN2S0059.

This striking S-3 was built by Lockheed at Burbank and delivered to the Navy in 1978 as the 184th of 187 Vikings built. She latterly served with Sea Control Squadron 21 (VS-21) at Naval Air Field Atsugi, Japan and deployed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. The superb markings were applied in 2004 for the disestablishment of VS-21 and she was SOC during April 2005, transferring to AMARG as AN2S0070. The distinctive scheme obviously saved her as she is now on display at the amazing Pima Air & Space Museum.
