A replica of the famous aircraft built by Louis Blériot during the pioneer era of aviation. It was used to make the first flight across the Channel on July 25, 1909. The XI remained in production in various variants until the outbreak of WWI. 2 original frames were restored (in the UK and USA), which are believed to be the world's oldest flyable aircraft.

Acquired by the Aviodrome in 2003 with serial MK520 and '3W-K' markings of the 322 Squadron. The original MK520 was left behind on August 12, 1944 at Rennes airport after suffering engine trouble.. Apparently the Wing Commander turned it into a private aircraft. Mid 1945 the aircraft went to another Wing commander and taken into maintenance following creative record keeping. The aircraft changed owner again and was eventually traded for a large amount of cigarettes in the spring of 1946.

One of the museum curators saw me taking pictures of all the aircraft (and tanks!) and so we were talking for some time. I told him that I really enjoyed photographing and finding out about old aeroplanes. With this he beckoned me to the Pe-2 and pulled down the crew entry hatch and let me view the cockpit, after which he let me see the ventral gunner's position. My head is poking through a tiny little hatch and it is awful to imagine trying to escape though it when the plane is diving and on fire.

Another photo of the Pride of Los Angeles triplane that was entered for the Dole Air Race to Hawaii. The titles and aircraft name can be discerned here on a darker paint job that was reportedly orange. If this was applied as a safety measure, it was one of the few taken for the race. On the nose is probably still the globe logo of the International Aircraft Corporation. The CF-10's middle wing only ran outboard of the engines! Photo from: San Diego Air & Space Museum

When the monoplane airliner already ruled the skies, Catron & Fisk came up with the CF-10 triplane. They became International Aircraft Corporation in 1927 and this photo clearly shows that this aircraft, entered in the Dole Air Race to Hawaii by cowboy actor Hoot Gibson and friends, was prepared as the International F-10. The F-10 crashed off Oakland on arrival for the race. The two crew and one passenger swam ashore unhurt. It is believed that this machine was never registered. Also see photo 365856 for the International F-18 entry. Photo from: San Diego Air & Space Museum

The EFW N-20 Aiguillon (Stinger) was Switzerland's first indigenous jet fighter aircraft with the Armstrong Siddeley Mamba turboprop chosen as the basis for the N-20's engines. The converted powerplant was named Swiss Mamba SM-1 but only six engines were built (four fitted to the N-20 with two spares). The prototype was completed in 1952 and flew briefly during a taxi test in April 1952 but development of the engine and the N-20 aircraft was cancelled soon afterwards. This is a rearward view illustrating the nice lines of the protoype, which is now on display at this wonderful museum.
