Ex N4191D and B-867 of Air America subsidiary Air Asia. To Air America as XW-PGM in January 1970. Photo year given as 1969 by the photo source but XW-PGM was in storage at Wattay between 1971 and 1973, and in the background is an An-2 which appears to be CCCP-70417, on record as 'detached to Laos in 1973'. This Swiss-built Porter was delivered to the Swiss air force as V-611 in 1962. After an engine malfunction at the Tschierva Glacier in 1963 it was disassembled, but a helicopter dropped its wing in a crevice. The glacier released it in 2015! Through Foshing Airlines in Taiwan, the rebuilt aircraft was delivered to Air America in 1966, fitted with a Garrett turboprop. It is seen near the LS-36 airstrip at Na Khang in Laos. It crashed in 1973. Photo by: Ernest Kuhn / University of Wisconsin-Madison
