On 23 March 1952 this aircraft burnt at Bangkok - Don Muang after the number 3 engine caught fire and a propeller blade slashed into the fuselage in flight. On return to Dublin on March 10th it experienced a problem with the No. 3 engine and never flew again. (Most subsequent photos show it with the No. 3 prop removed.) In summer 1983 it was dismantled for transport to Wroughton for the Science Museum collection; it was reassembled there and painted into TWA livery. (Photographer not known.)
