Delivered just a few weeks earlier from Horizon in Australia (my shot of A6-ABM gives a summary history of this interesting frame). By virtue of being a very active SLAF transport base, this was one difficult place to visit for photography. The airport was built in 1934 as Colombo's first terminal and served in that role until Bandaranaike (formerly RAF Negombo) was opened on the other side of the city in 1967

This ex-TTAS/BWIA 748 served Chieftain for the duration of their short existence from Jan 87 to Oct 88, then going to Scottish European as G-BPDA. Stored at Blackpool in Reed Aviation colours along with the other Emerald ones and b/u 4.09 although nose section saved and now on display at the old Liverpool Speke airport (Crowne Plaza Hotel)

With BA from 12.84 as G-HDBB and leased by EAS from 4.92 to 1.93. To Nepal Airways 9N-ACX 3.94, Horizon VH-IMJ 6.00 and Aero Lanka as 4R-SER, d/d 31.8.04. Noted at Kabul in 2012 as TU-PAD with East Horizon Airlines leased from Ivorienne de Transports Aériens

This 748 spent 2 years in Nigeria from 1986 and was no stranger to Africa having been delivered from new to Cameroon in 1977. Damaged beyond repair during 1998 while operated by Wasaya at a small airfield in Ontario

Boy, it can certainly rain in Trinidad.... By this time TTAS had been officially absorbed into BWIA. 748 was delivered as 9Y-TGI on 16.7.79 and was bought by Euroair in April 86, reverting to G-BGMO. Leased to Mount Cook (ZK-MCB) Nov 93 and to Emerald Feb 96; stored at Dhaka as S2-AAX

First to Air Virginia in 1982 and then to SATA in 1987; ntu by Transair Cambodia (didn't get beyond this B-Class BAe registration) and to Canada in 1995 after storage with Calm Air. The Okada 1-11 behind was originally Channel Airways' G-AWKJ which I shot there 22 years earlier!

Delivered to TTAS as 9Y-TFT 4.2.78 and bought by Chieftain Airways as G-EDIN in Jan 87. Scottish European did at least last longer than Chieftain, but the aircraft was sold in 1991 and went to the Sri Lanka AF in Jan 1992. Crashed on approach Palay AB, 28.6.95

One of Bouraq's large fleet of the type from delivery in 4.83, this 748 moved over to the Bali Air subsidiary in 2000 and was noted in storage at Surabaya in 10.08

Delivered to Cascade Airways December 1981. Bradley Air Services/First Air picked the aircraft up in 1988 and flew it until 2002 when it was stored at Carp airport near Ottawa.

Operated by Air Virginia from May 1982 until June 1984. Arriving on a commuter flight with one of IAD's transporters in the background.

C6-BEF pictured in a typical Caribbean setting, during a short stop on Bahamasair's island-hopping flight Nassau - San Andros - Andros Town - Nassau. This route was flown several times each day, and each leg took no more than 12 minutes.
