Built for American Airlines as N6819 in 1968. To Express One in 1997 and converted to a freighter. Leased to DHL Worldwide Express from 1998 to 2002. To Aero Lanka in 2002 and re-registered as 4R-SEM in 2003. To Royal Khmer Airlines as XU-RKF in 2006, then to Opedair as TU-TII in 2008. Withdrawn from use at Lanseria in 2009. Reported that the fuselage is used as a restaurant but no confirmation found.

Delivered just a few weeks earlier from Horizon in Australia (my shot of A6-ABM gives a summary history of this interesting frame). By virtue of being a very active SLAF transport base, this was one difficult place to visit for photography. The airport was built in 1934 as Colombo's first terminal and served in that role until Bandaranaike (formerly RAF Negombo) was opened on the other side of the city in 1967
