A short-lived Moth. Owner Ivor McClure and Sydney St Barbe left Stag Lane on 29 July 1927 in an attempt to visit 14 European countries in 14 days, but suffered an undercarriage failure at Rákoskeresztúr, Hungary on 6 August and the plane was written off. Some parts were used in McClure's next Moth, G-EBUR (c/n 446). Photo from: ETH-Bibliothek Zürich

VH-URL was involved in a fatal accident accident on December 5, 1935 when it crashed into a tent while attempting a forced landing at Crescent Head, NSW. A woman in the tent was killed and -URL wrecked. The aircraft was rebuilt. Impressed into the RAAF in 1940 as A7-82 and scrapped in 1944. The DH.60G III was powered by an inverted Gipsy III engine which made it look at first glance like a DH.82 Tiger Moth. However, it retained the straight upper wing of earlier DH.60s. Delivered as G-AUAV in 1929 to the Queensland section of the Australian Aero Club and seen here with Australian Aero Club Brisbane titles. Reregistered VH-UAV in 1930. Gipsy engine fitted in 1934. Destroyed in a mid-air collision with Moth VH-UAN on June 19, 1937. The Archerfield-based aero club became the Royal Queensland Aero Club in 1935. The RQAC, which operated a major commercial aviation academy, entered administration in 2016. It has been resurrected as a not-for-profit community club. Photo from: State Library of Queensland

The Moth used by Maude "Lores" Bonney for several epic flights including the first woman to fly solo from Australia to the UK, which she did in 1933. After Bonney replaced the aircraft with a Klemm, the Moth passed through a couple of owners until impressed by the RAAF in 1940 as A7-81. It was sold to an aero club after World War II, presumably as spare parts because it did not return to the register. Photo from: State Library of Queensland

Struck off the register in 1953 after being damaged in a cyclone at Winning Pool Station, Western Australia, on March 22 that year. Remains rediscovered in 1981. Returned to the register in 1996, took a further 23 years to be fully restored. Markings are those it wore in April 1931 when C.W.A Scott broke the UK-Australia solo record.
