The Imperial War Museums gives the location of this photo as "Holland, late 1944". There is debate that this aircraft was shot down on September 14, 1944. The confusion is whether this aircraft or EJ695 was W2-Y. At the time 80 Squadron was based in Belgium. This photo clearly shows EJ705 was W2-X. EJ705 is also shown as lost on March 11, 1945 at Volkel. That scenario better fits the IWM date and location. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

The Bristol 173 was intended as an airliner helicopter but G-AMJI was tested by the military as XH379 from September 1954 until September 1956, just before it crashed. We found that the Big Ben was in scaffolding from early 1955 until the spring of 1957 to repair damage from Luftwaffe bombing. The last BEA helicopter flight from the Waterloo Air Terminal was on 31 May 1956 but we are not sure when the heliport closed. Photo from: Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)
