From 1967 to the mid-1970s this C-7 operated out of Cam Ranh Bay AB, South Vietnam with the 483TCW/TAW/TFW, typically into unprepared airstrips along the borders of Laos and Cambodia in support of Special Forces. From 1977 assigned to the 357TAS (AL ANG) at Maxwell AFB, and transferred to the US Army there in 1987 for their Golden Knights Parachute Team. Retired to Dover in 1992, but was incorrect painted as "AF39-760" instead of "AF63-760".

From 1957 the USAF bought 160 Cessna 310s as light administrative liaison, cargo and utility transports under the original designation L-27A, later changed to U-3A. 35 more were delivered in 1960-1961 as U-3Bs with upgraded specification. Thunderbirds ship # 4 was the slot machine that always caught the exhaust soot from the rest of the formation. Back in 1960 a decision had been made to allow the tail of #4 to remain black, although never painted as such. The Thunderbirds graduated to the heavy Phantom from the F-100D in 1969 and relinquished them in favour of T-38's in 1974 after a break thanks to the 1973 oil crisis. 66-0291 went into storage at Davis Monthan in 1991 as an NF-4E after test use at Edwards and removed for scrap 5.11

The F-106B was a two-seat fully combat capable trainer version of the Mach 2.3 Delta Dart and is seen here taxiing towards the end of its career with the 194th FIS. After withdrawal and a period at Andrews, it was carried as an underslung load by CH-54 Skycrane to Atlantic City IAP, NJ, where it was plinth-mounted in the colours of the local 177th FIS. It is wired up so that the external lights work at night and is one of five F-106B's displayed across the US

The fourth and last B-1A built roars off after its Farnborough debut. It was actually taken out of mothballs for the purpose and was later retired to the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson where it is displayed in the original white livery

The last thing I expected on entering 'Lori's' a 1960s style diner, Powell Street, Union Square, San Francisco, was something of aviation interest. The aircraft is suspended from the ceiling in upstairs of the restaurant and the fuselage carries the designation US Army P5 D-25-NA and the serial together with a crew weight of 200lbs. The markings are fictitious though I was assured that the aircraft was real and it is probably some sort of homebuilt. The food was great too !

Previously displayed as 237123, a huge, troop-carrying glider. This is a composite reconstruction built from an original fuselage frame that was found in 1980 in a garden in Ormskirk. Its real identity is not known. The nose is a replica. The code 329 is on the nose and very small behind the cockpit.
