This US designated C-27A was deliverdf to the USAF on 25 January 1993. It served the 310th AS / 24th WG at Howard AFB (Panama). The G222 was retired to 309th AMARG on 14 July 1997 and was first stored with the inventory code AACC001 and later AXCC0001. It was allocated N2286Y on 3 November 1999. The G222 left AMARG on 9 July 2014 for the Aircraft Restoration and marketing (ARM), Tucson (AZ) and then to the Russell Military Museum, Zion (IL).

Built in 1943. Ex Spanish AF ES.1-41 and G-BZTJ.

24 Wing inactivated in 1999 on closure of Howard Air Force Base and the units C-27s were placed into storage with AMARG at Davis Monthan. 90-0171 went on to operate with the US Department of State as N23743 and was finally withdrawn, again to AMARG, before going on display with the Pima Air Museum.

Ditched into Atlantic Ocean off Savannah, Georgia, on 7 October 1981 after tail rotor failure. Was from HMS Hermes.

With the benefit of hindsight and familiarity with the ultra-modern, high-tech props available today, doesn't that old three blader look terribly inefficient? This aircraft served previously with the 310th AS/24th WG based at Howard AFB in Panama City. She was retired to AMARG during July 97 and is stored with the PCN/Inventory No. AXCC0001. (N2286Y)
