The G222 was retired to 309th AMARG on 14 July 1997 and was first stored with the inventory code AACC001 and later AXCC0001. It was allocated N2286Y on 3 November 1999. The G222 left AMARG on 9 July 2014 for the Aircraft Restoration and marketing (ARM), Tucson (AZ) and then to the Russell Military Museum, Zion (IL).
