The Lightning was the last type to use Saudi Arabia's old Mark number prefix system. In the mid 1980s the 21 remaining RSAF Lightnings were acquired by British Aerospace as part of the Tornado F.3 deal. This example was allocated serial ZF598 and flown to Warton, UK on 14 Jan 1986 and stored. It went to the Midland Air Museum on 19 Jan 1989. The Saudi tail and nose markings were added recently (still missing in Jul 2008).
