The great thing of picturing deployed aircraft is often that very nice weathering and dust over the airframes, like this worn Chinook in Kandahar. This Chinook was once delivered to the US Army as CH-47C 85-24736. The helicopter was accepted on 9 August 1985). It was converted to CH-47D 92-00281 and redelivered on 15 December 1992. The helicopter was withdrawn from use in 2015 and eventually dumped at Middletown-Sum with Summit Aviation (DE).

The Chipmunk was the start of aviation interest for many British youngsters in the 1960s and 70s who took their first Air Experience Flights as Air Cadets in them. This example, like so many of its type has now moved onto the civil register, this one as G-BWMX

The instructor gives a wave as this JP taxies out for a training mission. This aircraft was sold in the USA in 1993 and became N77506 with an owner in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Built by DH at Chester in late 1951. Displayed at the Queens Silver Jubilee air show at RAF Finningley when operated by 9 AEF based at RAF Leeming. To G-BWMX in February 1996.

This two-seat Hunter is of 1959 vintage and was with 4 FTS at the time of this shot but ended up with the ETPS in Raspberry Ripple colours. Bought privately as G-BNCX with a view towards a further flying career but moved from Bournemouth to the Brooklands Museum where it was placed on display. Now preserved at Dunsfold
