Built as an F.6 by Armstrong Whitworth at Coventry in 1955, this Hunter was issued to 208 Sqdn in Cyprus during 1958, returning to Hawker in late 1959 for an 18-month conversion to FR.10. After storage, to the A&AEE for camera trials in 1965. Following two years with the Ministry of Aviation, to 2 Sqdn Gutersloh until transfer to 229 OCU at the end of 1967. In March 1972 to Jordan as 853, passing to Oman three years later, used as an instructional frame from 1994. In 2003 flown to Brize Norton on a C-17 and placed on external display at RAF Museum Hendon. Now in outside store at Cosford.

Hunter F.4 WV396 was delivered to 5 MU in 1955, being issued to 20 Sqdn at RAF Oldenburg in 1956, later switched to 26 Sqdn there. Flown back to Kemble in 1957, it next joined 229 OCU at Chivenor. In 1963 it returned to Hawkers at Dunsfold for conversion to T.8 for the Royal Navy, operating with 795 NAS at Brawdy, Heron Flight at Yeovilton (as seen here) and lastly FRADU from 1980 to 1995 when placed in storage at Shawbury. In 1996 it became gate guard at RAF Valley painted to represent a 4 FTS aircraft in their red/white colours. Removed in 2017 and now at Anglesey Transport Museum.

Deliveredin 1954 as a Whirlwind HAR.4, serving 155 Sqdn in the Far East and later 25 and 22 Sqdns before conversion to HAR.10, then going to 10, 228 and 202 Sqdns. Seen here with "D" Flight 202 Sqdn along with XJ724, by 1984 it was in use an instructional airframe with 1 SoTT at Halton under maintenance serial 8673M, finishing up on its side at the Caernarfon fire dump in the late 2000s

WT327 was the second Canberra B(I).8 built and was used by Ferranti then the Royal Radar Establishment (RRE) at Pershore. In 1972 a new nose from B.2 WK163 was fitted and the aircraft was taken up by the RAE. In 1997 it was sold as G-BXMO and next year resplendent in its 'Raspberry Ripple' colours was exported to the USA, being allocated N30UP and stored at Lampson Airport, CA along with XH567/N40UP. In 2020, the Vulcan to the Sky Trust purchased WT327 in order to re-fit the nose to WK163 already in their possession.

Delivered in June 1952 and seen here with its last operating unit, 5 FTS. Struck off in August 1973 and scrapped at Finningley in 1977

The last Lightning T.4 for the RAF was delivered to 226 OCU in mid-1963 and served until going to 60 MU at Leconfield in July 1974 with 2133 hours recorded. It was assigned as a crash and rescue trainer there and after being moved to the RAF Fire School, Catterick at the end of 1976 it perished in 1990.

Built as a Wessex HAS.1 and later converted to HAS.3 as seen here with 737 NAS, XP143 ditched and rolled inverted 25 miles north of RAF Valley on 20th September 1978 after engine failure.

From delivery in late 1962, XM995 flew with 19 Sqdn and later 92 Sqdn (the green camouflage was applied by RAF Germany around 1975) before being SOC in April 1977, receiving ground serial 8542M as a decoy at Wildenrath. See my photo of it there at #2249

Taken on charge in 1955, this Pembroke was first issued to 2nd TAF Comms Sqdn, Wildenrath before storage with various MUs. In 1962 it was allocated to HQ Bomber Command Comms Sqdn, Booker, in 1963 to Flying Training Command Comms Sqdn, White Waltham and in 1964 to Western Comms Sqdn, Andover. WCS became 21 Sqdn in 1969 and the aircraft was modified to allow loading of the AOC's wife's wheelchair. Re-sparred by BAC in 1971, it joined 207 Sqdn, Northolt in 1973 and 60 Sqdn, Wildenrath in 1975. To the RAF Museum Cosford in 1987, allocated 8938M at the end of its flying career

First allocated to 66 Sqdn as a Hunter F.6, after conversion to FGA.9, XJ687 served 9, 208, 8 and 43 Sqdns before ending up with 229 OCU/TWU. In January 1983 it was sold to Chile as 753.

Part of a batch of 110 Hunter F.6s, XG194 served 43, 111 and 92 Sqdns before modification to FGA.9 and allocation to 229 OCU. On being withdrawn, it was mocked up to look like a Soviet Sukhoi to train personnel on disarming WarPac types. In 2009 the aircraft was rescued from dereliction at RAF North Luffenham by the Wattisham Airfield Museum, where it has undergone restoration to its former appearance as a Treble-One Sqdn 'Black Arrows' aircraft. Indeed XG194 was the lead Hunter in the famous 22-ship loop at SABC Farnborough 1958.

Taken on charge in March 1961, XM182 was first issued to 56 Sqdn, serving in standard silver overall colours till being painted in the superb red 'Firebird' team marks in the mid-1960s. Re-allocation to 226 OCU meant a return to a more sober finish, later users being 23 Sqdn then the Binbrook and Leuchars TFFs. Made its final flight to RAF Gutersloh in July 1974 and allocated 8425M for decoy use, being sold off as scrap in October 1982.

This Canberra was built as a B.2 by Handley Page and delivered to 100 Sqdn in 1954, moving on to 45 Sqdn, 75 Sqdn, the RNZAF and back to 45 Sqdn before conversion to T.17 for 360 Sqdn. Scrapped at Wyton in 1995

XL639 was delivered to 99 Sqdn in October 1958, the unit becoming 99/511 Sqdn in 1961. Stored at 5 MU Kemble from October 1975, it was bought by Guiness Peat Aviation in early 1976 and on to Airline Engineering a year later after storage at Stansted. Registered EI-BDC it operated various lease periods with Aer Turas and Cyprus Airways before being sold to Eurafric in January 1978. Moving to Redcoat Air Cargo as G-BRAC in June 1978, it sadly crashed after take-off from Boston-Logan on 16th February 1980 due to ice accumulation and windshear. Pre-flight weather briefing was judged inadequate.

Although not part of the show, the RAE's Argosy is seen here leaving after the 1971 Battle of Britain Day at RAF Coltishall. First flying on 8th May 1961, XN817 initially served as a Transport Command aircraft before being transferred to the RAE at West Freugh. It crashed there on landing when the undercarriage collapsed on 1st October 1984. The fuselage was used for fire training until b/u in 2011
