One of 19 production P4M-1 Mercator patrol bombers built in 1950-51. Powered by two P&W R-4360 and two Allison J-33 jets for dash to target. This example converted to P4M-1Q electronics countermeasures aircraft of USN Squadron VQ-2 based at Kenitra in Morocco. It moved to Asia and was attacked by North Korean MiG's near the DMZ on 16 January 1959 and engines damaged and tail gunner injured. The P4M was written off after returning to Miho NAS Japan.
