XE489 recently repainted as "XE364" on display at the Grand Opening Day of the Historic Aircraft Museum. The museum closed in May 1983 and the contents auctioned, XE489 fetching £6500. Became G-JETH. The wing spar attachments were found to be cut through so FB.3 WM983 was acquired and became G-JETH instead. XE489 with the wings of WM983 (in themselves from WV909!) was sold in the Netherlands. The aircraft marked as "XE489" at Charlwood is G-JETH with the fuselage of WM983 and just the wings from the original XE489.

Painted as XE364 (which was scrapped at Brawdy on 15th March 1963, parts of which were apparently used to rebuild XE489, which also incorporates the rear fuselage of WM983!). Became G-JETH on 10th August 1983, then went to Gatwick Aviation Museum in 1987. The registration was cancelled by the CAA on 15th December 2009.

In the HAM compound prior to the official opening 27th May 1972. Unusual shot with the wings folded and one of the last in these marks as by 14th May it was repainted as "XE364". The museum closed in May 1983 and the contents auctioned, XE489 fetching £6500. Bacame G-JETH. 806 Sqn Seahawk FGA.6 after taking the wire on HMS Albion at sea in 1960 with the port undercarriage leg retracted. WV806 was sold as scrap from Belfast in February 1968. I have seen this incident logged elsewhere as 1st September 1959 but this does not tally with 806's embarkment on HMS Albion which was from February to December 1960. Location is probable but not confirmed. Photographer not known. Photo obtained from former Fleet Air Arm pilot in 1971.

One of the aircraft assembled at Southend for the nascent BHAM. Eventually passed into the Historic Aircraft Museum (Southend) and then was to become G-JETH. The wings spar attachments were found to be cut through so FB.3 WM983 was acquired and became G-JETH instead. XE489 with the wings of WM983 (in themselves from WV909!) was sold in the Netherlands. The aircraft marked as "XE489" at Charlwood is G-JETH with the fuselage of WM983 and just the wings from the original XE489.

Entered service in 1955. The motif at about mid-point on the fuselage could indicate it was assigned to HMS Gannet at this time. Later transferred to the School of Aircraft Handling at Culdrose (EGDR) as A2549, then to Predannack Fire School in 1971.
