This UH-19D was in storage by the USAF Museum restoration hangars across the airfield from the museum when I took this slide. It is now at the Museum of Aviation at Warner Robins AFB, Georgia, but is currently being restored and not on display as of July 2022.

Delivered to the USAF as C-119F 51-8037 in 1953. Modified to a C-119J in 1956 then specially modified for the mid-air retrieval of space capsules re-entering the atmosphere from orbit in 1958/9. Made the first midair recovery of a capsule returning from orbit when it snagged the parachute lowering the Discoverer XIV satellite 360 miles from Hawaii in 1960. Converted as TB-25J. 1/46: Storage with 4168th BU, South Plains AAF, TX. 5/46: 304th BU, Langley Field, VA. 6/47: Placed in storage at Peyote AB, TX. 14 Nov '51: Flown to Brookley AFB, AL for maintenance. 2/52 to 9/52: Hughes Aircraft, Culver, CA; converted to TB-25K. 9/52: 3565th Training Wing, James Connally AFB, TX. 12/57: Stored Davis-Monthan 10/58: Registered N3160G. 1963: WFU at Anoka, MN. 12/78: Confederate Air Force. 1979 to 1993: Restored and registered N27493.

This third F-22 built, was involved in a mishap on 28 September 2004, became afterwards an instructional airframe at Edwards AFB (CA), went into storage and was fully restored for preservation in the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (since May 2007).

The Boeing Bird of Prey was a black project aircraft, intended to demonstrate stealth technology. It was developed by McDonnell Douglas and Boeing in the 1990s. As an internal project, this aircraft was not given an X-plane designation. The first flight was in 1996, and some forty flights were performed through the program's conclusion in 1999. The aircraft, which had given the designation "YF-118G" as a cover, was made public on 18 October 2002. The Bird of Prey was put on display at the National Museum of the USAF at Wright-Patterson AFB on 16 July 2003.

Delivered to the USAF in 1950, this B-45C spent much of its active life bailed to Pratt & Whitney being used for engine testing. Finally retired in 1971, it was flown to the USAF Museum for display.This slide shows the markings when the museum acquired the a/c. It is currently on display inside the museum.

Both flight attempts had engine failures so they continued the flight to Springfield on one engine. A few years later it was trucked to Rockford, IL for continuing restoration, completed in 1992. 10/15: Cavanaugh Air.

Assigned to the 489th Bomb Squadron and flew its first combat mission the day it arrived! 23 Apr to 4 May '44: Flew 7 more bombing missions. 26 May '44: Arrived Homestead, FL. 3 Oct '44: TOS RAF as Mitchell II, KL148. 7/45: TOS RCAF as KL148. 6/62: Lawrence Hicks Ltd, Saint Thomas, ON, with c/r CF-NWV. 7/68: Glenn Lamond of Detroit with c/r NX3774. 1987: Yankee Air Force, Detroit, MI. 2000 to 2003: Restored with the greenhouse nose. One of only three surviving B-25s which flew combat during WWII.
