Once again Mike Spaulding brought his lovely Warhawk/Kittyhawk to the Wide Bay International Airshow. Built for the USAAF as 42-104977, this aircraft served with the 49FG, named 'Punkins'. On 13 September 1943 it was shot down by a Zero at Tsili Tsili, near Finschafen, New Guinea. The wreck was recovered in 2004 and rebuilt at Wangaratta and Mareeba.

This aircraft is the one in which HRH Prince Charles learned to fly in the 1970s and it still carries his livery, that of the Royal Flight at the time. It is seen here at the De Havilland Moth Club charity flying day in a demonstration of Barnstorming. The pilot has his arm out about to throw an egg. Children were invited to write their names on the eggs and if the egg survived the fall they were given to the child. Remarkably, a large number did survive !

Built to an RAF order as WB659. Sold to Australia and became one of two Chippies with the Broken Hill Aero Club, registered VH-BAD on 9 November 1956. Sold in 1966, it was re-registered VH-UPD and passed through a succession of owners in South Australia until damaged in an accident in 1983. Rebuilt and moved to NSW in 1988 where it remains with the same owner. Seen here at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Chippie Rally.

This is a 3/4 scale Mosquito which first flew on 23rd April 2011. It looks remarkably like the full size aircraft, a real tribute to the 30,000 hours and 17 years of work. The livery is that of an aircraft lost on 15th January 1945 in Norway, piloted by Max Guedj with Flight Lieutenant Langley as Navigator. It was a welcome visitor to the LAA Rally. It was seriously damaged on 7th August 2015 at Fontenay-le-Comte
