New Guinea? Northern Australia? No: it's the Temora Aviation Museum, the only place in the world where you can regularly see an airworthy Boomerang and Hudson together, bringing back memories of those desperate days of 1942-45. (The Hudson is VH-KOY.)

Jeff Trappett's magnificent new Sabre at WOI 16. The CAC Sabre was powered by a RR Avon with additional thrust and had significantly improved hitting power with two 30mm Aden cannon. Delivered to the RAAF on 28 Jan 1960. Allocated to the Indonesian TNI-AU as F-8606 but crashed Denpasar, Bali, on delivery in Feb 1973. Retained by the RAAF until acquired by Jeff in 1982. First flight after long-term rebuild 21 Sep 13.

'Salvation Jane' at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's National Fly-in. This aircraft seems to have been a late starter in its civil career, having first been registered as VH-BTM as late as 5 May 1954. It seems to have suffered a crash in 1959 or 60 and to have been resurrected as VH-AUZ in 1994.

Starting up at for Point Cook during the RAAF 90th Anniversary Air Pilgrimage. After RAAF service, this fairly late-production Wirraway was bought back by CAC in March 1960 for possible conversion to a Ceres ag aircraft. This did not occur and in November 1963 the aircraft was sold for scrap. Rescued by Pearce Dunn, it was kept at his museum at Mildura between 1970 & 1982. Sold for restoration at Point Cook and then Caboolture, it made its first post-restoration flight at Caboolture on 8 July 1997.

This Moth Minor is actually a pre-war civil import. It was allocated the UK rego G-AFNN to the Hull Aero Club in 1939 but appears to have been deregistered the same day. It was registered VH-ACR on 17 Jan '40 until impressed as the last of the RAAF's Moth Minors A21-42 in Nov '41. Returned after the war to VH-ACR '45 until withdrawn in '47. Restored at Caboolture '03-'08. Seen here arriving at the Houdini-Centenary Air Show: note the prominent under-belly speedbrake in lieu of flap.
