This Colombia based Grand Caravan was in maintenance for the first two weeks of March. I was lucky to catch the hangar doors open and grab a distant shot.

Generally difficult to see this Medellin based Cessna Caravan, because HeliGolfo has their passengers depart from their hangar, which is hidden from view. Lucky catch from the new cafe along the runway at Olaya Herrera Airport.

One of 16 Sikorsky S-70i Firehawks ordered by Cal Fire to replace 12 Bell UH-1H Super Huey firefighting helicopters. The S-70i's are built in Poland, completed by United Rotorcraft in Colorado and outfitted with a 1,000 US Gal. Kawak belly tank. Cal Fire has 10 helicopter bases with two still flying the UH-1H in early 2024. The helicopter bases are in Kneeland, Bieber, Vilna, Howard Forest, Boggs Mountain, Moffett, Columbia, Hollister, Prado and Hemet Ryan, with spares at McClellan. Cal Fire also has 14 air tanker bases (four shared with USFS, which has air five tanker bases of its own in CA)

This aircraft is ex US Coast Guard serial 1708 and has registration N464DF reserved (previously assigned to a Cessna 337 Skymaster), but no civil registration is worn at the photo date. It flew with the US Forest Service as "Tanker 116" during the 2017 fire season and was reported to become N116Z eventually, a registration reserved by the US Forest Service since 1997. However, there is no proof that this registration was ever carried by this aircraft, which was handed over to CAL Fire after a 2018 US Forest Service decision to abandon its Hercules fleet.

Departing after the 2024 ASEAN summit, RAAF BBJ A36-001 is due to replaced very soon with a new BBJ MAX-8.
