In 1988 this Vampire was withdrawn from service and in 1992 it was put on a pole in front of the Dubendorf museum. To avoid deterioration it did receive a polyester fuselage pod. At the time, this was the only Latvian Nation Guard Wilga painted in camouflage colours. Pity it was unserviceable on the day of our visit as it would have been lovely to see this in flight.

Another ex civil An-2R that has a second career in the military. This time LY-LEL became 254 with the Latvian Border Guard and can be seen in the airspace near the airfield of Rēzekne.
