Delivered new to South African 10 May 1946 remaining with the airline until transferred to the SAAF's 44 Sqd 29 September 1967 as 6905. To the SAA Historical Flight as ZS-AUB December 1995. Leased to Swissair as ZU-ILI and painted in period colours and the fake registration HB-ILI celebrating 50 years of trans-Atlantic service by Swissair during the summer of 1997. South African offered a very special deal, round trip Rand to Wonderboom Airshow on their DC-4, flying different airframes on the two legs. The reason why I could not make the photos with the props turning was because I was on board!

Beautifully restored and flown by South African's Historic Flight. Flew several pleasure flights on the Friday prior to RIAT 2000.

"Outeniqua" was delivered to SAA in May 1946 and operated the long route to London until replacement by L749A Constellations from early 1950. It continued to serve the airline until 1967 when it was transferred to the SAAF as 6905.
