A very welcome participant during MAKS 2017, was this Sukhoi Su-15UM, which unfortunately has been retired for long. It was once operated by one of the OKB (aircarft design bureaus) at Zhukovsky. It was first reported as retired in 1993!

Russian Air Force An-30 surveillance aircraft seen on static display during MAKS 2017 at Zhukovsky. This aircraft has been modified for "Otkrytoye nebo"or Open Skies mission to monitor military installations under the Open Skies treaty, which entered into force on 1 January 2002. On 22 November 2020, the United States withdrew from the treaty, and in December 2021, Russia formally withdrew. The An-30 for this mission were based at Kubinka.

Russian Air Force Su-35S RF-81745 with bort 57 red is seen here during MAKS 2017 at Zhukovsky. This is the second use of the designation Su-35. The first use was also known as the Su-27M and the first flew in June 1988. It failed to attract orders. In February 2008, the first flight took place of the second Su-35 model, this version incorporates technology from the PAK FA program and has a redesigned cockpit and weapons-control system and features thrust-vectoring engines in place of the canards. Although it was designed for export, the Russian Air Force became the launch customer in 2009.

Bulit in 1975 and taken on with the Soviet AF as "04 red", changed to "04 black" by 1999. Seen here carrying the Open Skies tail markings. W/o on 23rd May 2012 on landing at Cáslav after an Open Skies mission over the Czech Republic. The aircraft approached the runway too fast, touched down hard on the nose gear (at 260 km/h) and bounced twice, the nose gear collapsing. It overran the runway, caught fire and burnt out
