Oeffag (Oesterreichische Flugzeugfabrik AG) delivered 32 C.II aircraft, serialled 52.01 through 52.32, to the Austro-Hungarian army air force in 1916. A second series of 32 somewhat improved aircraft, 52.50 through 52.81, followed from February 1917, but the C.II had numerous deficiencies and began to be withdrawn from the front in the summer of 1917, to be used for training. Better known for producing Albatros fighters, the Oeffag factory was located here at Wiener Strasse airfield, now LOAN. Today Diamond builds aircraft here. Photo from: Fortepan

Knoller C.II was an Austro-Hungarian reconnaissance and bomber aircraft built during World War I. Production took place in three series of 25 pieces and the first was delivered to the Austro-Hungarian Air Force in September 1916. During a test flight in February 1917, the wings of the machine disintegrated and the crew died. This crash led to the cessation of production and further flying with the type. The aircraft produced were not included in combat units, most were used as aids for training ground personnel. Displayed aircraft is the only surviving specimen of this type.

Fokker's first biplane was the M.7 of 1914. The M.10 was similar but with two additional struts towards the nose. The type sold to Austria-Hungary in two variants, the single-bay biplane M.10E, Austro-Hungarian designation B.I, and the two-bay M.10Z and M.11, or B.II. Fliegerkompanie (FliK) 6 was one of the receiving units and was based here at Igalo in 1915. We believe that the stone bridge in the background still exists, next to the E65 road bridge. Designed by Julius Berg and produced by the Austrian branch of the German Aviatik company, the D.I fighter was one of the better Austrian aircraft of WWI, although pilots preferred the Albatros D.III. Some 700 examples were built in 1917 and 1918. The Austro-Daimler engine was prone to overheating. Note the large radiator filler cap - it almost looks like a crafted mascot!
