Little is known about Mongolian operator Zorte Air, which was first publicly seen operating two Mi-8 helicopters in Malawi in April 2023. It seems the company was founded in late 2022 or early 2023, obtaining at least two former russian registered Mi-8's. JU-5888 shown here taxing out with 3000kgs of relief supplies, was previously registered as RA-27149. Together with JU-5008 and over a period of 3 month, it conducted some 250 flights, transporting 750 tonnes of material during "Operation Tigwirane Manja 2023", the relief efforts after cyclone Freddy hit Malawi in March 2023.

Delivered new to Air Malawi in December 1969 and flew with them until sold to Air BVI as VP-LVQ in April 1988 withdrawn by 1991 and scrapped.

Founded in 2013 as successor to Air Malawi (active between 1963 and late 2012), Malawian Airlines is a joint venture between Ethiopian Airlines (holding a 49% share) and the Malawi Government, owing 51%. ET-AQB shown here was leased from Ethiopian between January 2014 and October 2023, the month it was replaced by a leased Ethiopian B737-700 (registered ET-AVP). In 2016, the titles on ET-AQB were slightly changed from "Malawian" to simply "Malawi".

ET-APO shown here has previously been operated by Ethiopian and joined the Malawian fleet in December of 2022 (replacing a B737-700 registered ET-ARB). The 2nd aircraft Malawian operated as of April 2023 is a DHC-8-400 registered ET-AQB. In 2016, the titles on the aircraft were slightly changed from Malawian to simply Malawi.

To Clewer Aviation in South Africa in May 2002, and stored, remaining present until at least 2009. Re-registered to G-BURJ in November 2007 but unlikely to have left Johannesburg. When the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland was dissolved and Malawi and Zambia gained independence, CAA became a holding company and the Viscounts operated with nameplates for the new airlines; Air Malawi, Air Rhodesia, and Zambia Airways. To Air Malawi as 7Q-YDK 1 January 1968, June 1979 to Air Zimbabwe Rhodesia, name changed to Air Zimbabwe February 1980. Re-registered Z-YNA October 1983.
