Munich-Riem had the honour to welcome the Government of Togo several times. They visited the Bavarian city with a Gulfstream 2, a Fokker F-28, a DC-8 and this Boeing 720. The latter was the last Boeing 720 off the producion line in 1967, flew initially for Western Airlines and was used as 5V-TAD between 1980 and 1983. It was retired at Davis Monthan thereafter.

W/O 21-Sep-2000 when a fire broke out in the cockpit. Made emergency belly landing at the Hamani Diori (NIM/DRRN). Crew and passengers survive, but the plane burned out.

This government aircraft of Togo carries the engine cowlings of the same type as the Douglas DC-8-62.

5V-TAC was just one year old when it visited Munich-Riem in 1977. Sixteen years later, I met this aircraft again, this time as N120GS at Las Vegas (see photo ID 364407). And finally, in 2020, the aircraft was abandoned in Belize after a drug run as XA-CVS.

Parked in a terrible state at the maintenance hangars at Le Bourget Airport. Actually tranfsferred to MK Cargo early 1993, and continued to fly.

Acquired Nov 80 ex N3167 Western Airlines. To Conimex Aviation Services Mar 83 as N3833L. To AMARC (Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center) Jun 83 and stored Davis Monthan AFB still in the basic above cols. Broken up for spares circa 1991.

Wait, wait..fill the frame...get it side-on...wait, wait...oh noooo! This 707 was originally delivered to MSA as 9V-BBB in December 1968 and transferred to Singapore Airlines four years later. It went to the Republic of Togo in January 1986 but was destroyed at Niamey in September 2000 after an emergency landing resulting from an in-flight fire.
