Delivered to Sabena as CV440-12 OO-SCN in 1956. To Frontier Airlines as N73162 in 1967 and converted to a CV580 in 1968. To Frontier Commuter in 1983 then to Metroflight in American Eagle colours in 1985. Traded in to SAAB in 1987. Had recently been converted to a freighter when this photo was taken. To DHL later in 1989 and reregistered as OO-DHJ in 1990 then to SNAS as HZ-SN14 in 1996. Sold as N587X in 2004 then to Air Tahoma in 2005. Destroyed in a fatal crash near Columbus-Rickenbacker International Airport, OH while on a test flight in 2008.

Delivered in 1956 and operated until sold to Frontier as N73162 in 1968 then converted to CV580. On 1 September 2008, while registered N587X, it crashed on take-off from Columbus/OH (KCLK) due to the elevator trim tab being rigged in reverse during maintenance.

Seen here in storage, but this Convair went on the following year to fly with DHL in Europe as OO-DHJ. It was however lost in a crash 0n 1 September 2008 as N587X with Air Tahoma. It was on a flight following a maintenance "C" Check and crashed in Pickaway County, Ohio, immediately after departure from Rickenbacker International Airport. The crew had declared an in-flight emergency and were attempting to return to the departure airport. All three occupants - the captain, first officer and a company pilot observer - were killed in the crash or post-crash fire. An NTSB report blamed elevator trim
