The aircraft was sold to Conair Aviation in September 2009 and ferried, still wearing VH-PAL, to their Abbottsford, BC., base. It was deleted from the Australian register on 14th September 2009 and placed on the Canadian register as C-GYXS on 21st September 2009. It appears that Conair acquired the aircraft for parts to support the operation of their Convair fire-bomber fleet as it never flew, or even wore, its Canadian marks, lingering on at Abbottsford gradually donating parts. The last online photo of a recognisable airframe is dated 2017, and it is thought it was scrapped shortly after.

K25 slide scan. Built 1958 as a speculation CV-440 and placed in storage. Converted 1960 to Convair 580 and delivered to General Motors. Reregistered N5122 1994. Withdrawn 1998 after 38 years of GM service. Further regs C-GTTA, N631AR, ZK-PAL, VH-PAL before finally settling with Conair as C-GYXS in 2009.

At the time this picture was taken the Convair was relatively new to the New Zealand register. Registered as ZK-PAL in September 2003 the aircraft flew until August 2008 when it moved to Pionair Australia. The Tauck World Discovery titles are from a US based travel company specialized in all-inclusive journeys.

Still in General Motors livery. Registered as C-GYXS to Conair Aviation, but seems to have been bought as a spare parts source.

Built as a 440 ordered by Real Transportes Aéreos but delivered to General Motors (N5123) August 1959. Converted to a 580 in May 1960 and flying with GM until August 1994. Cypress Airlines brought the airplane to Canada the first time in 1996 (C-GTTA). It would later fly with Air Inuit and Hydro Quebec before going to Pionair, first as ZK-PAL and later VH-PAL. The aircraft was ferried to Canada in 2009 to become C-GYXS and stored in Conair's compound without the registration markings.
