In September 1949 the Nationalist Chinese government had forty CATC aircraft evacuated to Kai Tak. Note the flying boat - a Sunderland? This C-46, construction number unknown, was shipped from Hong Kong to the USA in October 1952. Another C-46, c/n 22451 / 2560 was registered as XT-524 in Tawain at some point. difficult shot in a yard full of C-46 frames, this one lost a lot of parts already. Still with the ramains of the colors applied by the Japanese. In the mid 70s this airframe was 51-1114. These were the last active duties for this Curtiss. By the late 70s it was owned by Everts, but never became operational.

After shutting down one engine due to an oil leak, the aircraft was intentionally landed gear up and slid off the end of the runway.
