The Department of Homeland Security operates a large fleet of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, including a number allocated to patrolling the northern US border with Canada. The Bellingham Airport base is the northwest most DHS aircraft base in the continental US and flies Airbus H125s (AS350B3+), Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawks and fixed-wing patrol aircraft. Crews have apprehended drug smugglers, illegal immigrants and others. This AS350B3+ was delivered in 2009 and is equipped with stabilized camera and searchlight. US Customs and Border Protection titles and US Department of Homeland Security badge on the tail.

More than 20+ Sikorsky S-55s and S-58s are used for cherry drying in the Okanogan River Valley area near Brewster, of Washington. This S-55B was first delivered to Chicago Helicopter Airways in Sep. 1956 as N875 and operated scheduled passenger flights until replaced by larger S-58s. Later N875W. Exported to Canada 1980, C-GSWL had 7 owners (MF Air Service, South-West Heli., Silver Pine, G O Island Hopper, Far West Heli, Spica Energy & Keith Franklin) before sold in May 2006 to Golden Wings Avn/Dave Smith. One of 10 S-55s seen at Smith's Monse Heliport, 4 mi NE of Anderson Field, Brewster, WA

This 2002 model Bell 407 previously operated by Helicópteros y Vehículos Aéreos Nacionales S.A. de C.V. (Helivan) in Mexico was one of a dozen interesting helicopters in the San Juan Aviation hangar at Arlington Airport in Aug. 2016. It was subsequently operated by Helicopter Express as N408MX. It was then converted in Calgary, Alberta to a Eagle Copters 407HP (which sees a 1,000 hp Honeywell HTS900 replacing the 407's the original 813 hp Rolls Royce 250-C47B turboshaft engine) and delivered in July to Air Shasta as N406AS. The 407HP is favoured for "hot and high" wildfire initial attack work.

A four fold increase in the production of cherries in Washington State between 1999 and 2017 (26.5 million 20-pound boxes) is behind a major increase in the number of helicopters under contract to area growers to fan rainwater off maturing fruit to prevent splitting between May and August. This includes a remarkable fleet of about 15 Sikorsky S-55s operated by Golden Wings Aviation's Dave Smith (in 2016) and nine S-58s operated by VI 1 LLC based at Anderson Field in Brewster, WA and the nearby Monse heliport. This S-55 (ex 54-1422) and 14 others were re-registered to Sierra Aeronautics LLC of KY in 2021.

Delivered new (as a Tristar 1) 27th Apr 1974 and had lease periods with Eastern and Gulf Air before being converted to Tristar 50 in Apr 1981. Became SE-DPP with Air Ops 9th June 1994
