The oldest airworthy aeroplane in Australia, this was also the first Moth to be exported from the UK, being first registered in Australia as G-AUAE on 5 November 1925 to the Civil Aviation Branch, Department of Defence. It was re-registered as VH-UAE in 1930. In later years it was re-built to DH-60G standard and is preserved in immaculate condition today at Walcha, NSW. Seen here at, fittingly, the Houdini-Centenary Air Show.

This was one of the replacement Trackers acquired by the RAN after the disastrous 1976 Nowra hangar fire. It is ex-USN Bu 153567 and retained that as the basis of its RAN serial. The aircraft was withdrawn from use on 12 August 1984 and sold. It was acquired as a training aid by Melbourne's Kangan TAFE in February 1994. In November 2013 it was acquired by the Vietnam Veterans Museum at Phillip Island, Vic.

On the pad for a medical retrieval. Tidal River is located on Wilson's Promontory, one of the most beautiful places in Victoria, and this was the third visit in four days for the air ambulance chopper. The previous day they had to winch a heatstroke victim off one of the walking tracks. VH-VAB carries titles both as 'Helimed 1', its ATC callsign, and as 'HEMS 2' (HEMS 1 being Polair 35, based at Essendon, and HEMS 3 being based at Bendigo). Helimed 1 is based at Latrobe Valley aerodrome.

Shep, looking south down the 1328 m Runway 18. There is also a 423 m gravel 09/27. Note the new development on the left, starting to encroach on the airport boundary. Shep doesn't have any scheduled services and, apart from considerable General Aviation activity the main aerodrome user is the Air Ambulance.

Located on the northern outskirts of Melbourne, most of the hangars at this private strip have only gone up in the last few years. Likewise, the westernmost runway (left, in this photo) has only been added fairly recently as the eastern (parallell) runway gets pretty boggy in winter. (Note: Wallan aerodrome closed in 2008.)

This 1978 Two-Twelve had a varied history before coming to Australia. It was originally registered in Japan as JA9536, then in the USA as N652LH, then Canada as C-FWOR before becoming VH-JJY[2] on 14 November 2008. It made a one-day-only appearance at the Australian International Airshow where it flew a water-bombing demo with a number of other fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
