VH-EFL was already two years old when it was taken from storage and assembled at Bankstown. It entered the register in April 1970. On November 23, 1980 it was damaged near Taree, New South Wales, and cancelled.

Disappointing sales saw VH-DZV and several of its sister ships still stored two years after they were built. By then Cessna had fixed the biggest criticism of the Cardinal: a lack of power. Cessna had also decided to continue with the Skyhawk, which the 177 had been intended to replace. -DZV was still current in September 2017.
