It took me 3 years to get permission to photograph this sole Madagascar AF Super Rallye, about the history of which I was not able to find much despite a big research effort (so any information would be appreciated). Also, I have never seen it flying between 2002 and 2005 (when I stayed in Madagascar), even though the batch behind the cockpit says "Sécurisation", revealing the aircraft's main role would be restoring law and order, mainly by fighting "cow chiefs", a common and huge problem in remote places of Madagascar. Fate of this airframe is unknown.

For a few years starting around 2008, Wamena airport became the "Eldorado" for BAE-146 cargo airplanes. That was after the Trigana and Merpati F-27's were phased out and before the Boeing 737's were allowed to land in this remote airport. PK-VTA is a 1984 built airframe and flew in Indonesia as from September 4, 2009. It had previously been registered in the UK as G-5-01, G-DEBN and G-MABR, in the US as N461AP, N568BA and N146AP, in Mexico as XA-RST and in Spain as EC-971 and EC-GEP. Left the Manunggal fleet in early 2014 to become RP-C8538 with Sky Jet Airlines in the Philippines.

In high demand of transport capacity, Indonesia took over nine of the twelve ex-RAAF surplus C-130H's (of which the first four were donated). They carry TNI-AU serials A-1330 through A-1338, and while most TNI-AU Herk's have a camouflage livery, A-1330 through A-1335 actually got this overall grey paint scheme during refurbishment in Australia (prior delivery to Indonesia). All have now been repainted to the camo style so I was lucky to catch this one while it was still grey. It is assigned to the 3rd (new) C-130 Skadron Udara 33 at Makassar, along with A-1315, A-1323, A-1330 and A-1338.

A total of 3 AW139 were procured by the Malaysian Coast Guard, officially known as the "Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia" or "Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency" (MMEA). All are based at Kuala-Lumpur's Subang airport and supplement three AS-365 Dauphin helicopters and two Canadair CL-215 fixed-wing aircraft. With a total of just 8 aircraft, the agency is relatively small, considering how much coastline and watersurface they have to cover. Picture taken during a crew training flight shortly after the AW139's were delivered to Malaysia in early 2011.

Indonesia's IPTN-Nurtanio aircraft facility in Bandung is mainly known for co-producing fixed-wing aircraft with Spain's CASA, such as the C212 Aviocar, the CN235 and the C295. However, it also built under licence different MBB, Bell and Aérospatiale helicopters for the local civilian and military market. Some 26 Super Pumas, of which at least 12 went to the Indonesian AF, were built locally since the mid 1980's. The one pictured here is assigned to VIP Sqn 45 based at Halim, and has since been repainted in an attractive white/red paint scheme (representing the national colors of Indonesia).

Built in 1987, this airframe first served with the then Soviet Air Force as 1904 before being registered OK-SDL in 1999. After just one month, it went to Africa, first flying in Uganda as 5X-UAG, then in Tanzania as 5H-PAN with Precision Air Services and finally to Kenya where this picture was taken. A few month later, on February 16, 2007, it was sold to South Africa and registered ZS-PNI, where it remains active at the time of upload.

This 1977 built Corvette has been re-registered a few times. It started in France with test registration F-WNGS before becoming F-BYCR. Then between June 1982 and March 1983 in Denmark as OY-ARB (in full "Sterling" colors), from where it went to Sweden as SE-DEE. It became F-GKGD (with "Gallic" titles) on October 29, 1991, went on to Morocco in August of 1998 (becoming CN-TCS) before making it to Madagascar in September 2001. It has been stored in Toulouse/Blagnac since 2005, probably broken up by now.

The AW139 makes up the bulk of Westar's helicopter fleet, with 9M-WAG being among the first entering service in the first half of 2011. Built in 2008, this Pilatus Porter carried registration HB-FNG before being delivered to Yeti Airlines in Nepal as 9N-AIU in May of 2009. Already in September that year, it went on to Tara Air (still in Nepal with same reg). Yajasi Indonesia then bought it in July 2012 to replace the ill-fated PK-UCE and operated it in the original Yeti Airlines colors as can be seen in this 2014 picture. Has since been repainted to Yajasi's blue / white color scheme.

In a rather unconventional move in the aviation industry, St Gallen Altenrhein Airport started to operate its own airline in 2011. The name "People's Airlines" is derived from the airport's brand "People's Airport". OE-LMK - currently the airline's sole aircraft - is based in Altenrhein from where it mainly flies scheduled flights to Vienna. However, charter flights are also offered if the schedule allows. For a while, People's actually operated a second EMB-170 registered OE-LTK but had to let it go in 2020 due to the Covid-19 situation.

On July 21, 2021, Swiss airline Chair started to wet-lease a Boeing 737-800 from Polish carrier Enter Air (which owns 49% of Chair). The aircraft operated its first revenue flight - with Chair titles applied - to Skopje that same day and is seen here arriving from Pristina a day later. Chair Airlines so far operated three A319-100's, but now needs additional capacity after one of it was damaged beyond economical repair during a maintenance mishap in 2020. Rumors have it that Chair will soon wet-lease two more of Enter Air's B737-800's.
