45 Commando Brigade of the Royal Marines trained yesterday with the United States Marine Corps. As such, no less than two CH-53E Super Stallions and two MV-22B Ospreys operated from RM Condor, Arbroath for the day.

The Viper currently operates from the USS San Antonio and is part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Readiness Group (IWARG). As such, the helicopters of the San Antonio are assigned to Marine Medium Tilt-Rotor Squadron 162 Reinforced, or VMM-162 (REIN) as can be seen on the tail of the helicopter.

This Skyhawk started its life with the United States Navy as 152853 before being sold to Israel. It is reported it received military serial 749 with the Heyl Ha'Avir. After it was withdrawn from us, US company ATSI bought the TA-4J and brought it back to the USA to fly Red Air missions. It has since moved hands again and the airframe is now owned by Canadian company Top Aces with registration C-FGWT.

HMS Gannet SAR Flight worked regularly together with the RAF Mountain Rescue teams. On this cold Saturday in March, the Sea King crew picked up a team from RAF Leuchars who had been training near Stob Ghabhar, south of Glen Coe, for most of the day. It was rather cold and windy up there!

After a long and extensive search, this aircraft is believed to be c/n 1G96-22, ex CCCP-32260 and YL-LEA. It was deregistered from the Latvian civil register on the same day as at least 8 other Border Guard An-2s. Other An-2s in Aeroflot colour remained in these colours at Spilve, whilst the remainder showed up in the UK. 1G96-22 seems to have been 'missing' for a number of years. Further more, it has the same dent on the fuselage as CCCP-32260 which makes it quite sure this is the correct tie-up. It was later again on the civil register as YL-CCF and it still has the same dent on the fuselage! This was discussed with the Guus Ottenhof and he seems to agree after viewing the evidence.

Taxying out with a full load of live Hight Speed Anti Radiation Missiles (HARM) for another mission during Operation Decisive Endeavour.

It was quite a surprise to see this MiG-25RBS on the ramp at Pirkkala. It is unknown where exactly the airframe came from. Its civilian owner started a repaint, judging by the fresh paint on the tail and the code 25 was added a good number of years later.

A pleasant surprise when this beauty turned up at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. Painted in a gold colour scheme to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Iowa Air National Guard.
