HMS Gannet SAR Flight worked regularly together with the RAF Mountain Rescue teams. On this cold Saturday in March, the Sea King crew picked up a team from RAF Leuchars who had been training near Stob Ghabhar, south of Glen Coe, for most of the day. It was rather cold and windy up there!

I read in the newspaper the following day that a climber had been killed in Glencoe. Presumably this sortie was in connection with that incident.

Lifting off to take another injured climber/hiker to hospital in Fort William. The Scottish mountains claim many victims every year, mainly due to people underestimating the danger as they aren't very high. The winchman certainly gets a great view!
