Built as a B.2 in 1953 and flown by three Bomber Command squadrons till 1960, this Canberra was converted to a U.14 radio-controlled pilotless target by Shorts at Belfast. Then operated by RN 728 Sqn from Hal Far, Malta on Seacat and Seaslug missile trials. After removal of radio gear, joined the A&AEE as a target tug in 1964 and was later used for ejector seat trials till 1988, including a period with Martin-Baker at Chalgrove. Dismantled by 1994 but the cockpit section was saved

Taken on charge by the RAF in 1.54 as WE191, this Canberra went back to BAe in 2.78 to be prepared for the Indian AF, but was never delivered. The fuselage is now preserved at the Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum, while the starboard wing was fitted to Canberra T.17 WH665 dumped at Filton in 1988 (was due to be sunk as a diving wreck). Others in this view from left are T.4 WT488 (b/u Dunsfold 99), TT.18 WJ721 (nose pres. Scotland) and probably TT.18 WE122 (to FRADU, nose in Suffolk) at right

Delivered in 1953 and served with 82, 58, 69 and 39 Sqdns before joining the A&AEE at Boscombe for camera trials in 1968. Now one of only two surviving PR.3's and looking good at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry, after attention from a devoted individual. Was obtained from Marshalls of Cambridge in fairly poor condition

Disguised as 'photographic survey' or 'radar calibration' aircraft, Germany's three Canberras actually flew electronic intelligence missions along the Iron Curtain, a fact that seems to be little known.
