On a scheduled freight flight from Pickle Lake, overran the runway at Kasabonika Airport, Ontario, and came to rest in soft ground in an area of sapling trees, 500 feet north of the runway end markers.

On a working-up training detail at Prestwick. Chieftain Airways was a short-lived Scottish start-up airline providing scheduled services from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Brussels, Frankfurt and Hamburg. Its two HS-748s were accordingly registered G-GLAS and G-EDIN. Services started on 30/3/1987, but the airline entered administration on 13/5/1987 after only six weeks of commercial activity. This aircraft eventually became G-ORAL of Emerald Airways. Scrapped in 2008, with its nose and cockpit section being preserved by Liverpool's Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group.
