Aircraft brought to Nelson by steamer by American pilot Walter Edwards (real name Walter Edward Kittel) to fly at the annual Nelson Fruit Fair. He found the fairground a dangerous site with buildings and power lines surrounding it. Nevertheless he flew the Curtiss and thrilled the townspeople who had not seen an aircraft before. Edwards resumed using the name Kittel in his post-aviation business career. He died of heart disease, aged 42, in his home town of Seattle in 1922. The Fairgrounds are no longer existing. This Boundary Bay (CZBB) based, 1976 built Skylane had oversized main tires the last time it was seen. Now it has super-sized tires to go with the 300 h.p. engine and canard fore-plane. The owner said it stalls at 28 knots, but could not explain why the is no anti-collision light on the fin.

Arriving from Saskatoon (CYXE) is this 2002 built Challenger operated by Sunwest Aviation and using call-sign "Chinook (CNK) 91". It was registered C-GLPP with IMP until March 2022.

Arriving from Boeing Plant 2 (9WA0) for Customs is this 2019 built R66. It then departed to Part Hardy (CYZT) and may well be en route to Alaska. Registered owner address is New Hampshire.

A Tristar operator since 1973, Air Canada also bought six of the longer range L1011-500s. This first aircraft was delivered on February 26, 1981. The last one was delivered November 25, 1981 and all six aircraft were sold to Delta Airlines in 1991 - 92. Registered N764DA with Delta on August 15, 1991, this aircraft was retired to Victorville, CA in January 2001.

1968 Islander went to New York for US distributor Jonas Aircraft in December. Registered N583JA for short leases to small airlines until landing with Oak Harbor Airlines in 1971. Registered N67HA in 1972 when the airlines shortened their name to Harbor Air. Pacific Coastal Airlines brought it to Canada as C-GPCF 1976 - 82.. Chilcotin Cariboo Aviation from August 1982, the aircraft crashed on May 23, 1985 landing at Ten Mile Creek, BC. It was written off, but there were no injuries to those on board.

When Ben Hall found F-86A 49-0178 in a scrapyard, it's engine, most of the cockpit and wing slats were missing. Parts from other wrecks were used to get the aircraft flying again. The replacement wing slats did not fit, so they were modified and fixed closed. A fence, similar to the 6-3 hard wing seen on the later F-86F was also added. Mr. Hall flashes a smile while awaiting his time to perform with the Sabre at the 1983 Abbotsford International Airshow.

Kenn Borek Air owned Twin Otter in Vancouver for lease to Harbour AIr. The airline leased the aircraft during the higher traffic summer season. It was a regular lease (1989 - 1997) except for 1995 and 1996 when the aircraft was working in the Maldives. The aircraft has been more or less permanently working for Maldivian Air Taxi since 1999.

Delivered to West Coast Air Services on June 10, 1964, CF-WCA met a temporary end when it flipped during a water landing at Owen Bay, BC on July 16, 1974. No serious injuries occurred, but he aircraft remains were salvaged and stored for several years. Pictured finally undergoing a slow rebuilt at Pacific Aircraft Salvage, it would fly again in 1984. Sold as N77BA in June 1984, the bush plane is still current with Beluga Air in Homer, Alaska at the time of uploading. This is a different aircraft than the former US Army Beaver cn 1285 that was registered C-FWCA 1999 - 2016.

Manufactured by Ector in 1975, this Mountaineer first flew as N65059. It was exported to Canada and registered C-GAXQ to the Quebec City Gliding Club (Club de vol à voile de Québec) the same year. The aircraft was acquired by the Vancouver Gliding Association in 1994.

The newest in the fleet was delivered 12 days ago and here departing to Calgary.

Built in 2018 for WOW Air and has been on lease for Rouge since June 2019. Here arriving from Toronto three hours late and replacing the scheduled A320.

Visiting from Vancouver is this Aerospatiale TwinStar registered to Talon Helicopters, but here wearing 'richberrygroup' titles as it is used for applying fertilizer to Ocean Spray's cranberry fields (logo on cowling). The aircraft has been modified to Heli-Lynx standard (model AS355FX-2) and is seen giving familiarization flights to local search and rescue personnel.

Arriving from Munich as LH476 yesterday afternoon. Nice to catch this special livery on its first flight into North America.
