The aircraft was destined to go to a new owner in Australia registered VH-NWB, but during a pre-delivery test flight, control was lost on take-off February 12, 2012. It came down hard on the left wing at Hollister Airport doing substantial damage. The parted out hulk is pictured at San Martin , CA.

This airframe has had an eventful life, it was built as an AT-7 Navigator during WWII, re-manufactured as a USAF C-45G by Beech at Wichita in 1953, and civilianised and converted to single-fin Tradewind configuration with Volpar tri-gear by Pac Aero at Burbank, CA., in 1965. During its civilian career it has suffered a gear-up forced landing, been impounded for drug smuggling and been damaged by a falling skydiver.

This airframe has had an eventful life, it was built as an AT-7 Navigator during WWII, re-manufactured as a USAF C-45G by Beech at Wichita in 1953, and civilianised and converted to single-fin Tradewind configuration with Volpar tri-gear by Pac Aero at Burbank, CA., in 1965. During its civilian career it has suffered a gear-up forced landing, been impounded for drug smuggling and been damaged by a falling skydiver.
