The crest just visible below the engine nacelle and the registration in the N7xx range confirms the operator identity, but there is a problem with identifying the airframe. All online references plus the FAA register show it as an Observer 2 built in1990. However the paint scheme and tail markings match the earlier Observer factory livery. Finally, the slide mount is date stamped "July86". Over to the detectives!

Built in 1973 as one of six aircraft delivered to Air Transit in an attempt to establish a STOL airline service between Ottawa and Montréal. Here it is in later Transport Canada service, having inherited the red livery from Air Transit instead of the normal TC white with red stripes. In 2022 it flies as 8Q-RAD for Manta Air.

One of only two Metro aircraft ever delivered new to Perimeter. This happened in 1978 and it was discovered to not be an economically viable proposition at that time. Consequently they were both leased to Sun Aire Lines of California. By the photo date the situation had changed and the two leasers returned to join a growing fleet of used Metros bought on the cheap. It is still registered in 2022, but possibly out of service since last seen at CYYJ in 2018 due to the 50,000 hour airframe life limit.
