Ex RAAF A19-036, VH-CTU was withdrawn from use in 2013. Restored to the register as VH-CKU in 2021.

Right near Yaek Kor Por Aor metro station, and north of the RTAF museum at Don Mueang, this CT-4A Airtrainer can be found with a cafe, dubbed The Glass Hangar by Snowy. It was formerly operated by Don Mueang-based 604 squadron and was first noted here in August 2020.

Originally intended for the Rhodesian (Zimbabwe) air force until stopped by an arms embargo. Sold to the RAAF instead. Came on to the civil register in 1997.

Developed from the civilian Victa Airtourer, the first of 50 Airtrainers built in New Zealand for the RAAF, delivered in January 1975. Operated by ARDU then 1 FTS and last flown in October 1992. After the withdrawal of the Airtrainer, the RAAF relied on contracting out its ab initial pilot training to BAe Systems, and such was the suitability of the type that production was re-commenced in 1991. BAe received 12 new-built aircraft, followed by 14 ex-RNZAF machines in 1999 and finally four bought from private owners in 2011, two of which ironically were from the original batch of RAAF CT-4As.

Built for RNZAF as NZ1940. Damaged in 1987. Sent to Pacific Aerospace for repairs. While there converted to the prototype CT-4C with an Allison 250 turboprop and 3-bladed prop as ZK-FXM. When no sales eventuated, converted back to a CT-4B and returned to the RNZAF. It would later be sold in Australia as VH-YCQ. Bob Kerr photo
