Before Changi Airport began commercial operations on July 1, 1981, Paya Lebar had been the main airport in Singapore since 1955, replacing the old Kallang Airport. Paya Lebar became a complete military airbase in 1981 when Singapore Changi Airport was opened and was subsequently renamed as Paya Lebar Air Base. The airbase is expected to be decommissioned from 2030. Photographer unknown.
